Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 poses performed in a room heated to around 40 C degrees. This hot room causes the practitioner to sweat profusely ridding the body of toxins. The heat also allows the muscles to become more pliant. In the 90 minute class each of the 26 poses are performed twice, along with two breathing exercises. Although very similar, Hot Yoga should be looked at as seperate from Bikram Yoga. For a studio/teacher to offer Bikram they must have trained directly under the founder Bikram Choudhury himself, and strictly adhere to his prescribed methodology.
