Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies FAQ

How long do I have to complete the course? With each of these courses from Oxford, you'll have twelve weeks in total to complete the seven sessions and the essays associated with the course.

Will I be assessed for my course work? If you choose not to be assessed for your course work, then there's no need to complete the final essay.

Will I receive accreditation from Oxford University for my course work? No, but online students do receive a Completion Certificate signed by both the OCHS Online Learning Director and the YogaLondon School Director.

May I study from anywhere? As long as you have an internet connection available to you, you're open to the course. All materials will be delivered to you via the web.

May I speak with my tutor? Will I know the other students? Throughout your course, you'll have continuous access to your tutor and other students through online discussion forums. You can also contact our tutor by email.

How are the lectures delivered? Each of the lectures are recorded and become available to you in video and/or mp3 format. Lecture notes will also be accessible online and as a pdf. Lastly, you'll receive audio interviews with Hindu Studies specialists at Oxford University.

Do I need to purchase additional books or materials? No, all materials are included in the course. In some courses, the online notes are available to purchase in book form, but this is for convenience only and not necessary.

What if I'm not good on the computer? If you can handle email, you're good to go.

May I sign up for more than one course? Absolutely. You may enrol on as many as you'd like. However, if it's been a while since you've studied at University level, you may want to start with one course to get a feel for the level of involvement.

How much is the course fee? Each course costs £95. You may pay upon enrolment, using a major credit card or PayPal. If you need to arrange payment by cheque or bank transfer, you'll need to get in contact here.

What if I need a refund? OCHS will provide a 100% refund on cancellations received before the course commences. Once the course begins, the OCHS will give a 65% refund if during the first week you decide you don't want to continue for any reason.

What if I become ill or have a life emergency? After the first week of the course, we will discuss a refund or transfer depending on your special circumstances. It is our policy to extend the greatest flexibility to students under these circumstances.
