Hot Yoga is often, though not always, a style of yoga derived from Bikram Yoga, which was founded by a man named Bikram Choudhury. He created a series of 26 poses performed in a room heated to around 40 C degrees. Beginning in 2013 and continuing through to 2016, lawsuits were filed against Mr. Choudhury claiming sexual harassment and sexual assault. In 2017, courts in the U.S. awarded ownership of “Bikram Yoga” to a former employee after Mr. Choudhury fled to India. After such time, many Bikram yoga studios rebranded themselves and renamed their studios.
